Young talent often lies hidden away. For it to flourish, it needs to be discovered and nurtured. Luckily for the orphaned Wilhelm Maybach, then aged 19, his astounding technical genius attracted the attention of one Gottlieb Daimler. It was in 1865 that Daimler became a new father figure, companion and mentor to the young Maybach, opening up the floodgates for a wealth of groundbreaking inventions from which people still draw benefit to this day. His eldest son, Karl Maybach, continued the success story. And the name Maybach has stood for outstanding pioneering achievements and the very highest standards ever since.
In view of this special family history, the Wilhelm & Karl Maybach Foundation sees it as its honourable duty today to again bring together experienced leaders and future hopefuls and so keep up this tradition of sponsoring. International mentors from the business world, architecture, sports, art and research support the aspiring talents, who usually come from a disadvantaged background, with their knowledge, their personal experience and contacts.
Following the tradition of Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, the Maybach brand is very much committed to the Foundation’s efforts to support young talents and bring them together with sophisticated mentors. Therefore, the Maybach Manufaktur cooperates closely with the Wilhelm & Karl Maybach Foundation and supports their engagement.
